For Councils & Districts
  • Scouts With Disabilities and Special Needs Fact Sheet:  No. 02-508
  • Review Button A Guide to Working With Boy Scouts With DisABILITIES:  No. 33056C
    • This publication is, BY FAR, the most concise resource prepared by the Boy Scouts of America relative to resources available for working with Scouts who have disAbilities.  Despite the title, it is a valuable tool for working with Scouts in all four Scouting program divisions (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts and Venturers).  This publication is a MUST for every unit leader!

  • Scouting for Youth With Disabilities Manual: No. 34059

Scouting for Youth With Disabilities Manual is a recent (2007) compilation of the next eight documents into a single manual. This manual comprises a total rewrite and practical update of those eight documents and is an invaluable resource for every unit leader in Scouting.  A multi-disciplinary team of Scouting volunteers and professionals prepared this manual. Notably, it has taken many of the ideas that the WWSWd website has shared since the site's roots among the attendees of the Working With Scouts With disAbilities seminar at Philmont in 1998, and placed them in the mainstream of Boy Scouting's official resources.  Most notably, the Individualized Scouting Advancement Plan, is now recommended as a format for documenting a Scout's disAbilities and modifications to advancement requirements. A hearty "well done" to the authors of this manual!
